Running good live = running good online
All it takes is just a little patience. If you've been keeping up, you will know that I've been running well live, but not so well online. The month of April changed that. I have finally turned the corner (I hope) playing online. I still play some cash games once in a while, but the game DuJour has become the $10 NLHE Sit-N-Goes.
I did really well in the $5s (meaning I had a +ROI) and decided to move up to the $10s. I did well there and moved up a little too early into the $20s and $30s. Some of this was due to some of the SNG challenges you might have seen other bloggers participating in. I was doing mine with some of the fulltiltforum.com ers. I made it all the way up to the $100 level before I went busto. Then the wheels fell off and I had a bad run in the $10s. So bad that I had an ROI going into April of -33%. Ugly. As of May 5th, I had turned it around to +33%. Nice little run.
I've found that time of day has a HUGE influence on how well I am doing. I don't want to let the cat out of the bag, but hell, I never get any comments which means my 5 readers can benefit as well. If I get home from work and get in a Full Tilt $10 SnG between 6 and 7pm Eastern time, I have cashed more than 80%. That's a big damn number. I don't know if it is the "tourist" crowd on the East Coast getting home and wanting to blow off some steam in these games or if it is the last game for the Europeans, and they want to go nuts, but patience in these things will pay off. I play a tight, aggressive game. I see 15-20% of flops MAX (this includes the BB, as Full Tilt includes this in their stats). I wait for someone else to hang themselves, and I pounce. I have gotten lucky in a few, but they were in pots which, had I lost, I would have still had chips to play.
So either I've gotten much better, or I'm a card rack. I'm going with card rack, I've seen a lot of good hands lately. Maybe due to the fact that I'm waiting for the good cards and not trying to get pushy with bluffs and air.
That's it for today. I hope to play in the next WPBT event, but still not sure of the date. Hopefully I'll see something on Columbo's blog or the WPBT wiki soon. I'll keep an eye on my Gmail as well as that's my subscription. Maybe I can turn this run into a nice little payday.
Meanwhile, I'll cya at the tables.
